Former AFC Leopards Coach Ivan Minnaert wants the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the world’s football governing body FIFA to compel the club to compensate him for unlawful dismissal.
In a letter to the chamber dated 4th May 2017, Ivan is accusing the Kenyan Premier League side of failing to honor the Football Kenya Federation Arbitration Tribunal ruling dated 15th November 2016, which awarded him $24,000 for the illegal termination.
“Upon this award, my advocates have on numerous occasions attempted to have the respondent settle the award made to me by the tribunal but to no avail,” the letter seen by Soka25east.com reads in apart.
In the award, Leopards were also to pay for the costs of the proceedings amounting to $200, his air ticket to Brussels, Belgium and accommodation expenses.
The Belgian, who is currently with Rwandan Premier League side Mukura, was fired as Leopards manager on 30th October 2016 – nine months into his 2-year-deal, a decision he successfully challenged at the FKF Arbitration Tribunal, and was awarded a six-month salary compensation.
Despite the club committing to settle the claims in four monthly instalments from 25th January to 4th July 2017, they have not been able to keep their word, since paying the first batch of $4807.
Ivan now wants “measures” taken against AFC Leopards to grant the correct payment of the arbitral award (correct exchange rate) and interest rates for delaying payments.
He also wants the costs of the application to the FIFA chamber awarded to him.
