Young Africans are the 2016/17 Tanzanian Premier League champions for the third time on the bounce.

Yanga managed to secure the 22nd crown on goal difference despite losing 1-0 to Mbao FC at the CCM Kirumba Stadium, Dodoma.

The Jangwani Street boys managed 68 points same as arch rivals Simba, who beat Mwadui FC 2-1, but Yanga enjoy a superior goal difference.

The coach’s George Lwandamina’s path to victory was crystal clear as their closest challengers and arch rivals Simba SC needed to beat Mwadui FC by 10 clear goals to secure the title.

Simba managed a 2-1 win over Mwadui falling short of the huge target.

Yanga, who failed to reach the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup group phase this season will now have a chance to make amends next year.

Simba still stand a chance to qualify for the Confederations Cup if the lift the 2017 Tanzanian Cup.
