Confederations of African Football (CAF) has cleared Caldeirao do Chiveve Stadium to host continental games.
The 40,000 capacity sitter fully owned by Mozambique side’s Ferroviario da Beira will host their second home match of the Group A 2017 Total CAF Champions League slated for July 3rd 2017 aganist Al Merreikh.
Ferroviario da Beira management has spent the last few weeks improving the facility in a bid to beat the CAF deadline, which they managed to do.
A statement from the club indicated that after the inspection carried out on May 21, CAF approved with satisfaction the report of the inspector and approved the Ferroviário da Beira Stadium with facilities suitable to host the matches of the African Champions League.
“The approval is a great victory for our united efforts in attaining this achievement and we the club’s management would like to thank, CFM, our sponsor, local and central governments, FMF, individuals and the entire Mozambican people, and particular the associative mass of the Rail Club Of Beira,”reads the statement.
Ferroiviario da Beira were held to goalless draw by Al Hilal on Tuesday at the Estádio do Zimpeto and has two more home games.
