AFC Leopards prolific striker Jacob Keli has taken to social media to explain why he didn’t show up yesterday for AFC Leopards Kenyan Premier League match against Sofapaka at Nyayo Stadium.
In a Facebook post today, the 2013 KPL most valuable player had this to say, “Let me start by apologizing to the “Ingwe” fans for not turning up for yesterday’s match. It was due to personal and physical reasons . Let me make it clear I did not incite any one not to honor the match. AFC Leopards has 28 players and 13 showed up,so why mention only 2 that didn’t.
I have played my heart and soul for the den this season despite all this hardships and I’m still recovering from my hamstring injury.God is good we won but it’s a wake up call to put our house in order to avoid such side shows.OURS FOREVER.”
The match against SOFAPAKA was doubtful as Leopards players refused to take to the field citing unpaid salaries and allowances, head Coach Zdravko Logarusic was forced to craft a make-shift side with striker Karim Ndungwa taking the number one jersey to man the goal post.
The depleted squad which only had three subs on the head went ahead to shock soccer lovers across the country beating SOFAPAKA by a solitary goal, with Karim being the hero pulling wonderful saves including a penalty to secure the three valuable points.
