Week 10- Kabwe Warriors still winless! Fans calls on team to rise!
The 2017 season ZSL enters week 10 and action continues.
A total of 180 goals have been scored upto this point, 118 players involved in those number of goals. It looks like it will be a season of goal avalanche. With more games on the cards due to the increase in the teams in league, the goal tally was expected to improve, but it appears to exceeding expectations.
Fwayo Tembo (Power Dynamos) and Chris Mugalu (Lusaka Dynamos) are the current top scorers with five goals apiece and should they not score in week ten then there is possibility that they maybe over taken as Walter Bwalya, Dan Mathews Silavwe and Brian Mwila are following closely on four.
Take note that there are also 10 players on three and any brace scored by any of them then we may have different top scorers at the and of week 10.
Its a season that we have never had and each week that passes, you also have to look out for a coach who has survived.
So far two coaches have been axed. Suliman of Mufulira Wanderers was the first casualty and Elijah Chikwanda followed suit after City of Lusaka decided he was not delivering after seeing the club get to the bottom on the form guide in week 9.
Who could be next on the chopping board?
On the field of Play in week 10
Zanaco and Zesco United are off this weekend from the league assignments as they are engaged in the CAF tours. Both teams will be at home against Libolo of Angola and Cotton Sport respectively.
League standing Implications
NAPSA Stars will continue as leaders of the league should they beat Red Arrows at Nkoloma. Though the head to head stats favours the Air men. Napsa has only won once in the last 10 encounters , They look strong though this season but Red Arrows have not lost a game at home this season so far.
Another game that will be on show in Lusaka is Green Buffaloes against Lumwana Radiants. An interesting fixture with both teams winning their home games last season but Lumwana looks to have improved more than Green Buffaloes and we shall have to wait and see how that pans out.
In Kitwe, Nkana are on a very good run for the first time this season after back to back victories could actually be leaders of the table if other result go their way and if they beat struggling Kabwe Warriors at Nkana Stadium.
Warriors searching for a first win of the season will be hoping the form of Nkana doesn’t continue. Chintu Kampamba needs a victory and the more it takes long the more pressure the exco will be getting from the fans to release him. Fans are playing their own role with player if the match and of course banners asking the team to rise.
Its a difficult fixture to expect a lot from the Kabwe outfit.
One other interesting fixture will be in Mufulira were the best defence of the season takes on the worst defence of the season so far. But those statistics looks to be changing as Wilson Mwale and Chinama Justin seem to have tightened the defence after taking over at the legendary club.
But they will have to improve on the scoring rate and ironically both of these teams meeting up they have only scored four goals in the 9 games which is worrying for the fans. But this should be an interesting fixture.
