AL Ahli Tripoli thumped CAPS United 4-2 in a thrilling African Champions League day three match played at the National Stadium, Harare Friday.
A double from Derbali Sameh and a goal each from Salem Ablo and Muaid Salam sealed the humongous win for the Libyans away from home. Ronald Pfumbidza and Zvirekwi Hardlife scored CAPS’ goals.
Al Ahli, who held Zamalek 0-0 in their previous outing at home away from home in Tunisia, move joint top of group B standings on four points same as Zamalek, who play USM Alger tonight.
Derbali commenced the obliteration a minute past the quarter hour mark when Justice Jangano committed a foul in box which he (Derbeli) converted – sending goalkeeper Jorum Muchambo the wrong way.
Ablo doubled the lead four minutes later before Salam made it 3-0 in the 25th minute for a comfortable lead into the breather.
Derbali grabbed his brace nine minutes to stoppage to stretch the lead beyond reach. However, Ronald Pfumbidza cut the lead from the spot in the 86th minute with Zvirekwi Hardlife reducing it further with the second on the dot for a 4-2 final score.
Group leaders Zamalek will host USM Alger later today at the Borg El Arab Stadium, Alexandria with a chance to move three points clear at the top with a win.
