Sierra Leone lost 1-0 to Liberia in an international friendly Monday at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, Monrovia.

Christopher Jackson of LISCR FC scored the lone goal in the second half to settle the tie.

Both the Leone Stars and the Lone Stars used the match to gauge themselves before the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

Sierra Leone will host Kenya’s Harambee Stars at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown on Saturday 10th June in group F of the qualifiers, While Liberia will travel to Harare, Zimbabwe to face the Warriors in a group G tie.

Leone Stars were playing their first match since failing to reach the 2017 Gabon Afcon. It was also the first outing for newly appointed coach John Keister.

Keister deployed a largely home-based in the match as they wait for more foreign-based professionals to join camp this week.

Kenya on the other hand have been camping in Machakos town in the Eastern part of Kenya.

The Harambee Stars will not play any build-up matches before the first ever meet with the Leone Stars. An initial plan to play face Angola did not take off.

The team will depart for Freetown on Thursday.
