Comoros Football Federation President Salim Tourqui has lost his ability to speak after suffering a brain aneurysm, a source close to Soka25east says.
The account offered rare detail on the condition of the 71-year-old football boss, who was rushed to a Moroni Hospital on May 31.
The source said that Tourqui was recovering at home but that “to my knowledge, he is not speaking yet”.
“He took a terrible hit, he had an aneurysm, and nobody found him for a while,” he said in response to a soka25east question .
“He’s going to have to struggle back from it, the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.
“How much he’s going to come back and when, I don’t know and I’m not going to guess,” said the source.
Active on football administration and other causes, Tourqui is known for improving the level of the game in his country making hundrends of players join French based clubs.
Tourqui has led the archipelago of three Indian Ocean islands since the country became the 207th FIFA member in year 2005.
The country, consisting of three main islands — Njazidja, Nzwani, and Mwali, formerly Grande-Comore, Anjouan, and Moheli, respectively — was voted 198 to 3 during the 55th congress of the world football governing body that was held in Marrakech, Morocco.
Federations publicists failed gave an update since last week on his condition saying he was still in a hospital but fully alert, denying a media report he was in a coma.
