Gor Mahia outplayed their great rivals AFC Leopards 3-0 to bag the innargural SportPesa Super Cup.
Timothy Otieno led the way for K’Ogalo with subsitutes Oliver Maloba and John ‘Softie’ Ndirangu sealing the win.
Ingwe were missing two of their their first team players as defender Denis Shikayi stood out for a disappointing AFC Leopards team that was thoroughly outperformed from the first whistle to the last.
Gor had a number of impressive performers. Wellington Ochieng and Joash Onyang were solid at the back, while George Odhiambo and golden boot winner Kagere shone up front.
Goal-scoring intent
K’Ogalo signaled their goal-scoring intent in the second minute when George Odhimabo set up Kagere for an early goal with a cross from the right, but Kagere was wide of the mark with his effort on goal.
Odhimabo put the Kagere ahead in the 11th minute when he took advantage of Ramadhan Yakubu’ poor attempted clearance.
It took until the 38th minute for Ingwe make an impression on attack. Gilbrrt Fiamenyo headed towards goal, but Peter Odhiambo rose to the challenge and pushed the ball behind for a corner.
K’Ogalo came firing back and Muguna headed over the crossbar when he should have found the target from a cross by Haron Shakava.
Second half
In the second half, Gor took charge once more and Kagere tested Otieno down low for the opener unsettling the Leopards back line.
Not long after that Oliver Maloba doubled K’ogalo advantage in the minute when he drove a low shot from a cross.
Ingwe were clearly second best and there was to be no miraculous comeback, a fact that was underlined by a superb third goal scored by John Ndirangu in the 90nd minute after he hammered the ball with his trusty left foot into the Ingwe’ goal.
