Botswana national team head coach Peter Butler resigned from the Zebras job early hours of Wednesday morning to end his four-years acrimonious relationship with the Botswana Football Association (BFA).
Butler announced his resignation in a statement sent to media houses.
He said: ” I have met the President of the Association today and we have parted ways amicably – I have to state he is a great / honourable man and we bear no grudges and share the same sentiments.
” I’d like to thank The President of the country HE Lieutenant General Ian Khama and his Office they have been very supportive of me and my team I cannot thank them enough – thanks to the Sports Ministry – Honourable Minister Olopeng and his team – my technical team the players who have been fantastic – I loved working with you !
“Special thanks to the wonderful people of Botswana I loved my time here especially the wonderful people of Francistown you will all be forever in my heart – Thank you all Tsamaya sentle,”concludes the statement.
No Botswana football official could immediately be reached for reaction to Butler’s resignation barely a week after Zebras 1-0 loss to Mauritania.
However, reports indicate that Butler has joined South Africa Premier Soccer League side Platinum Stars as the permanent replacement for Cavin Johnson.
Dikwena bid farewell to Johnson this month after opting against renewing his deal following the club’s inability to secure a top-eight finish in the recently-concluded Absa Premiership campaign.
