Mamelodi Sundowns will employ attacking football against Esperance du Tunis in tomorrow’s African Champions League group C clash at Stade Olympique, Tunisia.
Head coach of “the Brazilians” Pitso Masimone is categorical his charges will not sit back but will show the home fans how “good they are.”
“I expect them to play the same way they have been playing, we obviously would like to dominate and attack. I don’t expect them to sit back,” the 52-year-old 2016 African Coach of the Year said.
Sundowns, who are the defending champions, commenced their group campaign with a disappointing barren draw at home against St. George before bouncing back with an emphatic 3-1 stomping of AS Vita away in Kinshasa.
Esperance, however, burst their bubble – inflicting on them a painful 2-1 defeat in the first leg of this tie played on 5th June in Pretoria.
Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana expects pressure, but he is not worried.
“We are no longer underdogs, but rather the team to beat. It is normal for defending champions to be put under pressure. What remains for us is to remain humble in our approach, and to make sure we win our games,” Kekana said.
The team is currently placed third in group C standings on four points – three off Esperance and one behind St. George.
A win could take them level at the helm on seven points depending on the outcome of today’s match between AS Vita and St. George in the DRC.
