English Premier League side Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar after a spectacular outing by the striker in Portugal.

Magpies boss Rafa Banitez wants to create a more competitive environment to bring out the best in his squad and the Spanish gaffer believes that acquiring the Cameroonian will do just that.

According to SunSport,Newcastle are ready to pay £9million and they now look likely to steal the forward from French club Rennes who were unable to afford his £2.5million -a year-wages.

Currently Aboubakar is on international duty with Cameroon at FIFA Confederations Cup and he will be likely replacement of key target Romelu Lukaku who is almost way out of the Toffees.

The coach is also allegedly keen on signing the Eibar defender Florian Lejeune for £8.7million,which would give him more options in the centre-back position as he gears up for title chase and try to get the Champions League spot next season.

Tammy Abraham has also be linked with the Magpies move and will listen to offers from Brighton before deciding whether to sign on loan from Chelsea.
