Malawi national team head coach Ronny Van Geneugden is impressed with how his youthful squad is performing so far in the 2017 Cosafa Castle Cup.
Malawi has a couple of young tucks with an average age of 22 years and RVG says the team has a great potential in the young players and this comes after his decision to weed out experienced lads after taking over the team a month ago.
” I am very proud of my team they played well but so disappointed we can’t score. This is a young team with an average age of 22.
“One of our player was voted man of the match and that is good for us .
“It is like building a house you start with foundation then rise high up to the roof. We are building a game plan whicy demands that we must start at the back and build attacks going forward while passping but that has to translate into goals which at the moment is not happening but we will work hard to get there.
“I will have to build a good relationship with the local coaches so that this philosophy is also adopted locally.
“But I see a good future in these youngsters,” he said.
Malawi were held to a goalless by Mauritus in their second group A match yesterday. They lost their first match 2-0 aganist Tanzania, with their next fixture aganist Angola being a must win.
