Defending CAF Confederations Cup champions TP Mazambe and Supersport United are through to the quarterfinals after deserved wins in their last group ties.

Mazembe edged stubborn Horoya AC 2-1 at Stade Mazembe, Lubumbashi, while Supersport walloped CF Mounana 4-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria Saturday.

Mazembe finish top of the group with 12 points – two off runners-up Supersport. Horoya and Mounana exit the tournament.

Deo Gracia Kanda put Mazembe ahead in the 14th, however, the visitors from Guinea managed to level through Francis Dipita in the 37th minute.

Zambian midfielder Nathan Sinkala grabbed the winner in the 82nd minute to secure the safe passage for the DRC giants.

Supersport dominated the Gabonese and took the lead 15 minutes into play through Bradley Grobler.

Grobler turned provider 12 minutes later – setting up Thabo Mnyamane with a lovely cross for the second.

New Zealand forward Jeremy Brockie, who is the leading top scorer in the championship, made it 3-0 in the 34th minute for his eighth overall.

Brockie took his haul to nine with the fourth for “the Matsatsantsa” from the spot on the stroke of half time, after Mounana skipper Dieu Donne Nkoume Kemba tagged him in the box.

Ellesah Mensah JR managed to pull one back for Mounana in the 56th minute but, it only serve as a consolation.

In yesterday matches, Club Africain and FUS Rabat secured their spots in the last eight with wins over KCCA and Rivers United respectively.
