Mozambique international Simao Mate has signed for Qatar side Al -Ahli on a short-term contract.
The 29-year-old joins them as a free agent having been released by Spanish club Levante last season.
Simao, who has been capped 34 times by Mozambique, had been training with Spanish side Sevilla but could not agree a deal with them.
He is box-to-box midfielder with incredible strength and tackling skills as well as being comfortable on the ball, he has been compared to Yaya Toure.
The former Panathinaikos midfielder has also previously played for Chinese side Shandong Luneng between 2012-2013.
