Malawi U-17 national team Junior Flames leave for Mauritius on Tuesday to play in the Cosafa Youth Championship from July 21-30.
The Dekreck Msakakuwona’s coached side have been in camp for the last three weeks and are in good shaped to conquer the region.
In an interview with Malawi Football Association portal, Msakakuwona says that his boys are in good shape as they have prepapred enough to claim the trophy that they last won in 2001.
“The training camp went well and we are looking forward to the tournament. We have young and talented players who are hungry for success.
“When a farmer plants Cotton for sure he wants to harvest Cotton and not Maize. We want to go there and do well.
“It is my wish as a coach, the wish of the boys and the wish of the nation to win this cup,” said Msakakuwona
Only three players in the squad, captain Haji Walli, Innocent Nhlema and Chikondi Mbeta were part of the group that won bronze last year.
The Junior Flames are in group A alongside hosts Mauritius, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
They play their opening game against Botswana on Saturday before facing Zimbabwe on Monday. The last group match is against Mauritius on Wednesday.
