Kenya Premier League All Stars team succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Spanish second division side Cordoba in the highly anticipated friendly game that was played on Wednesday night.
Cordoba dominated proceedings from the onset,forcing All Stars to commit defence errors but despite their superior possession stakes they struggled to create many clear cut chances in front of goal,in the opening minutes.
All Stars first decent effort on goal only came in the 17th minute when Samuel Oyango met a left-wing cross from Jackson Macharia, but his left foot strike was easily cleared by the keeper.
A minute later the Cordaba took the lead when Jona headed home a right wing cross from Victor Mena, 1-0.
All Stars continued to press forward after that, but they were continually frustrated by Cordoba who got all their players behind the ball in defence.
Cordoba’s next real effort on goal only came in the 37 th minute when Alex Valejjo played Fernandez into space on the edge of the box, but he saw his shot magnificently cleared by Robinson Kamura.
The half ended 1-0 in favour of Cordoba.
The game continued in the same fashion after the restart and finally Cordoba made their pressure tell in the 54th minute with Sergi Gurdiola’ netting second goal of the game froma right wing cross to make it, 2-0.
Few minutes later as the pressure continued on All Stars side,Simon Mbugua handled the ball in the eighteen yard and the refeeree had to award the home side a penalty that was easily sloted in by Roberto Quiles past diving Boniface Oluoch.
The icing on the cake was Alejandro Alfaro’s goal again from the spot after captain Musa Mohammed brought down Javi Galan to make it 4-0.
