Saints’ highly rated midfielder Victor Mugubi Wanyama has taken to social media to clear the air over a t-shirt he wore that bore confederate flag on it’s chest.
The social media has been awash with the picture of “Big Vic” in the offensive t-shirt generating a lot of debate, with some quarters branding him insensitive.
In a tweet on his official account @victorwanyama, the Kenya’s Harambee Stars skipper asked for pardon for he didn’t know what the flag symbolizes.
“Am sorry it has come to my attention i was
wearing a t shirt which has confederate flag
but i was not aware what it means,”
“But it has been brought to my attention
what it means and i just want to appologise
to all those have been offended.” Wanyama stated.
The confederate flag is considered highly offensive more so by the blacks community in America and also by the human rights activists, who take it as a symbol of slavery, oppression and recism.
The flag was formed when the Southern part of America succeeded from the rest of America. TheSouuthern economy is believed to have been fueled by slavery and thus their flag is symbolic of racism.
