Ottawa Fury FC have announced the signing of Uganda U20 international Azake Luboyera for the USL 2017/2018 season, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
The 19-year-old forward have been training with the team for a couple of months and is expected to be available for selection aganist Toronto FC II next week in the second match of a 4-game home stand.
“Azake is someone who has a huge amount of potential and we believe in him,” said Fury’s head coach, Paul Dalglish. “We’re really excited to bring him into our squad.”
“Even though he’s young, I think he can compete for minutes straight away. If he can translate the goal scoring ability and creativity that he’s shown in training into the game, then we’ll have a real prospect in our hands,” added Dalglish.
Born in Kampala, Luboyera moved to Canada in 2015 and joined Fury FC’s Senior Academy. In his first season he played 10 games, scoring three goals and adding seven assists. He was also named to the RDS 3 Stars of the week for the PLSQ in July 2016.
A graduate of Qatar Aspire Football Dreams Academy he boasts experience with Uganda U-20 team in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in 2016 during which he netted two goals.
