Guinea-Bissau international Piqueti Djassi is hopeful for UEFA Europa League debut as his Portuguese Club Maritimo play Botev Plovdiv of Bulgaria today (Thursday 27 July) at 2105hrs GMT tonight.
Piqueti Djassi is among the nineteen listed players for the first official game of the Madeirans this season where the islanders seek to secure a place in the group stage of the Europa League.
Piqueti who signed for the side this season has participated in all eight pre-season matches for Marítimo,making four starts and coming in four times as a substitute, scoring two goals.
Internationally,the 24-year-old winger represented Portugal at under-20 level , notably helping his adopted nation to the fourth place in the 2013 Toulon Tournament .
Piqueti switched allegiance to Guinea Bissau in 2015, earning his first senior cap on 8 October 2015, replacing Cícero Semedo in the 72nd minute of the 1–1 draw aganist Liberia in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Piqueti was selected for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations by coach Baciro Candé , featuring 29 minutes in the group stage opener against hosts against Gabon (1–1).
He scored his first goal for his country the following match, netting through an individual effort to put his team ahead in an eventual 1–2 loss to Cameroon .
