A bus carrying Mali U-17 national team players and coaching staff has been involved in a serious accident this afternoon near Yamoussoukro.

According to an eyewitness no injuries has been reported among the passengers but a child from the surrounding village was seriously injured.

“The bus carrying Aiglonnets slipped into a small ravine in Elibou,a small town which is 60 kilometres from Yamoussoukro following a tyre puncture.

“The driver was able to control the vehicle and no injuries on the side of players was reported,” an eyewitness told Soka25east.

The team was en route to Bamako from Abidjan where they participated in the Francophone nations tournament where they scooped bronze.

Fire Service Personnel and Police personnel are currently on their way to the scene of the accident.

Mali are the current Africa U-17 Champions and will be representing the continent in the World Cup tournament that will be hosted in India.
