Horoya AC are the 2017 Guinea Ligue 1 champions after grinding out a priceless 1-0 victory over Fello Stars this Wednesday 2 August at the Elhadj Soifoulaye Stadium.
Horoya advanced into the Fello Stars lair and reclaimed the title thanks to a beauty from Ocansey Mandela.
The match was being re-played after being stopped on 56th minute due to rains that struck the town of Labe on Tuesday and Horoya did their part in assuming the onus of taking the game to enemy territory in the remaining 34 minutes.
On their side Fello Stars,pushed by huge home crowd tried to prient their rythm into the game but failed in finishing when it mattered most in the first minutes.
In 65th minute Horoya were awarded with a free kick near 18 yards box which was taken quickly taken by Breffo Mensah with Oncansey Mandela picking it at the edge of the box to send a cannon shot past Fello Star goalie Moussa Sylla.
Fello Stars did less in response to their trailing as Horoya went on with dictating proceedings inside their opponents’ territory.
The win makes Horoya AC retain its title with 53 points regadless of the results of remaining fixtures and once returns to represent Guinea in the 2018 Champions League.
