Collins “Gattuso” Okoth has recovered from hamstring injury he has been nursing and will be available for selection tomorrow, when Gor Mahia lock horns with Al Khartoum in group A decider.
Gattuso picked the injury in “K’Ogalo’s” last Kenyan Premier League match against Mathare United on 12th July 2015.
Speaking to gormahiafc.co.ke, assistant coach Frank Ouna confirmed the news many adoring Gor fans “Green Army” have been waiting for with baited breathes.
“Gattuso is back to full training since Tuesday.
He will be available for selection tomorrow (Friday) but he can’t do 90 minutes at the moment. So, we will decide at what point to take him off or introduce him tomorrow if he is picked.”
The hole left by Gattuso in Gor’s central mid play has been pronounced, especially in the last two opening matches, where Ugandan Khalid Aucho has been doing all the donkey work. The return of the combative midfield general will for sure steady the influential position.
Ugandan international Godfrey Walusimbi will however wait for the final assessment on the condition of his ankle on Friday. The left winger picked a knock on Monday in the 3-1 win over KMKM.
“Walusimbi didn’t train with the rest of the team because of the knock from a rough tackle in the
previous game. He trained alone, just basic jogging and light sprints to improve on flexibility and stability on the affected ankle. We will
decide on him tomorrow (Friday).”
Gor is already through to the last eight after picking maximum points in two matches, a win over Al Khartoum tomorrow will send them to the top of group A.
