DRC football association FECOFA has pardoned Renaissance FC and reinstated them back to the topflight “Linafoot” after meeting with the club’s officials and the league’s management body in Kinshasa Tuesday.
FECOFA condemned Renaissance to the second division in June this year after the club was found guilty of engaging in acts of hooliganism.
The club was also fined $20,000.
Goons associated with the Kinshasa based outfit wreaked havoc after going down 2-1 to AS Vita Club – causing damage to the Martyrs Stadium and injuring match officials during a Linafoot playoffs match on 22nd June.
However, in a twist of events on Tuesday, FECOFA vetoed their own decision and restored their topflight status with the club committing to fight hooliganism and not to engage in it again.
Renaissance boss Pascal Mukuna thanked FECOFA President Constant Omari for the “great gesture” and asked for forgiveness from all those who suffered during the unfortunate incidence.
