Group B matches of the ongoing Cecafa Kagame cup have reached a conclusion with Al Shandy of Sudan joining leaders APR at the quarterfinals which will begin on Tuesday 28th.APR will meet the runners up in Group A while Al Shendy will meet Group B runners up.
It was however a painful exit for Somalia Police side Heegan who had earlier forced a goalless draw against LLB Academic before losing to favourites APR 2-0.They lost to Sudanese side Al Shandy 3-2 this evening at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The law enforcers started the match on a very low and fell to an early Eid Mugadam 6th minute strike after the Sudanese forced his way in between the Heegan defense, neatly penetrating and with his right foot shot towards an advancing Mohammed Subairu in the Heegan goal.
The goal destabilised the Somalia champions and just 21 minutes later,Former Muhoroni Youth defender Nigerian Harry Gentle brought down Koko Abdalla and Elsad Hassan Musa Ahmed sent the Heegan keeper the wrong way for a 2-0 Half time lead.
On resumption,Heegan came a rejuvenated side when captain Farid Hassan reduced the deficit in the 70th minute after he shot past keeper Faoaz Jamal in the Shandy goal for a 3-1 scoreline. However a minute later, the Somali Policemen had their work cut shot when Mugadan extended the lead with a third goal and his second for the day.
Heegan FC struggled to stage a comeback scoring the second in the 84th minute, but it was too late as they lost the ultimate match 3-2 effectively sending them crashing out of this years Cecafa Kagame Cup.
In the subsequent match of the group,APR beat Lydia Ludic condemning the Burundians to a calculating quagmire as they will have to wait for the results of other group matches to be sure of progression.
