Libya beat their Algeria counterparts 2-1 in Consatinte to take a lead into the decisive second leg.
An Libya national team composed solely of domestic players dominated much of the game.
The match was the first leg of the double confrontation between the two North African nations which will decide who will qualify for the fourth editions of the African Championship of Nations which will be hosted by Kenya in 2018.
Speaking after the match, Libyan coach indicated that he was pleased with the favorable result but that he believed that his side will still have plenty to do in the reverse fixture which will be played in Algiers on August 19 .
“I think we did what was essential in this duel (yesterday). Winning by a goal or more will not change the way we’re going to prepare for the return leg. What I mean is that everything will be decided in Algeria,” he said while speaking to Dzfoot.com.
“Honestly, I’m satisfied with what my players showed today since they played the way I wanted them to, with quick and short passes. I remain confident ahead of the next match.”
