Big spenders Lusaka Dynamos beat Forest Rangers in a early Kick off at Sunset Stadium to go top of the log.The win is Dynamos’ third in a row.
Captain Clatous Chota Chama opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a scorcher. Striker Darcy Mbaka opened his goal scoring account with a beautiful header from a Mousa Lemisa cross to secure all three points for ‘Elite’ Lusaka Dynamos.
Forest Rangers had a number of moments in the game but failed to make proper goal scoring chances.
The other game at Sunset Stadium involved Sensational Zanaco and Konkola Blades.
Blades went into the match on the back of a 1 nil win over City of Lusaka while Zanaco had failed to correct maximum points in their previous three encounters. Striker Souleyman Lokwa put Sensational Zanaco in the lead in the 25th minute with a beautiful low shot from the edge of the 18 yard area.
Scorer of last weeks third best goal on Football Africa Albert Ngosa equalised for Blades in the 64th minute with a diving header. Lokwa completed his brace before Taonga Bwembya could add his name on the score sheet with a beautiful direct free kick.
Frank ‘Kilo Mwepu Chinyama reduced the deficit with a headed goal but Zanaco held on for a win despite a late sarge from Konkola Blades.
AT EDWIN EMBOELA
The second double header of the day was at Edwin Emboela stadium where Green Buffaloes and Nchanga Rangers squared off in a early Kick off.
The Army sponsored out-fit managed to narrowly beat Rangers through a Friday Samu strike. GBFC have now collected a total of 40 points and are third on the log while Nchanga Rangers have now sunk deep in relegation waters.
The other match at Emboela saw Napsa Stars take on Nkwazi with both teams looking to collect maximum points. Nkwazi were quick to get off the mark as Davie Kalandanya opened the scoring in the 8th minute.
Steward Chikandiwa doubled the lead in the 40th minute to increase Nkwazi’s advantage. Simon Nkhata pulled one back but it was too little too late for Napsa Stars as they lost a third match in a row.
The biggest fixture of the day obviously was the match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium pitting 12 time champions Nkana football club and 2016 CAF Champions league semi-finalists Zesco United.
United have had a upper hand in these matches, In fact since 2004 Nkana only beat Zesco United once at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium last year. Nkana however seem to play exceptionally well during such fixtures.
Left back Diego Apanane scored the only goal of the game to hand Nkana three vital points on their quest for a 13th title.
Lumwana Radiants continued their good run of form at home as they inflicted more misery on Mufurila wanderers. Chanda Mushili opened the scoring early on in the match. Mighty Mufurila wanderers went on a goal scoring spree with two goals in a matter of minutes as Macha levelled and Osumanu taking the lead.
Lumwana responded quickly through Josephat Kasusu and Chisenga Lukwembe left it late to earn Lumwana all the three points.
Kabwe Warriors welcomed Red Arrows at the legendary Godfrey Ucar Chitalu stadium with only one game won since the start of the season. Elijah Chikwanda’s lads put up a spirited fight to earn their second win of the season with a 2-1 scoreline.
Real Nakonde and Nakambala Leopards beat Green Eagles and City of Lusaka respectively with a 1 nil scoreline while Power Dynamos and Buildcon played to a goalless draw.
