Liberia national team head coach James Debbah has lamented the lack of time for preparations for the inaugural edition of West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament in Ghana.

The Red White and Blue boys will face the Teranga Lions of Senegal in their first match on Sunday,September 10 in Cape Coast in Ghana.

Preparation

Speaking to soka25east.com from the team’s camp in Monrovia ahead of Sunday’s clash, the former Liberia international frowned at the level of preparation of his team terming it poor. However, he is confident that his side have the quality to upset Senegal.

“We have been training for the last three weeks; I don’t think we are adequately prepared,”Debbah said.

“It is a problem for the techinical staff when the players are not in camp,they go home and wedo not monitor their activities.”

“From what i know we have not beaten Senegal before but that is in the past,it could be changed if we are given the necessary support,”the Lone Star head coach asserted.

Liberia are expected to depart the country Thursday,Spetember 7,2017 for the first round of the tournament that will be played on a knockout basis.

If Lone Stars emerge victorious in the first game, they will be paired with other teams from the next group,for which they will receive USD 10,000.

Tournament winners will take home USD 100,000 from the tournament organizers WAFU and Fox Sports.
