Guinea beat Guinea Bissau 2-1 to reach the group stage of the West Africa Cup of Nations(WAFU) Cup in their match at Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
Keita Sekou and Camara Abdoulaye scored for Guinea while Gilson Correia netted for Guinea Bissau early in the game.
In the 13th minute Guinea Bissau took the lead through Gilson when a long ball played from the back found the striker, who finished it off from inside the box with a powerful header to make the score 1-0.
Dabo came close to adding a second goal for Guine Bissau in the 20th minute when he fired a long-range shot forcing the best out of goalkeeper Abdoulaye.
On the half hour, Ismael saw his tame shot from a Daouda corner easily saved by Lopes and he had another chance from a free-kick in the 14th minute which was well saved by the Guinea Bissau goalkeeper.
In 32nd minute Guinea levelled the matters through a well taken penalty Keita Ssekou.
Seybouda then misses a sitter, when it looked easier to score, in the 38th minute blasting the ball high and over the bar from point-blank range.
In the 42th minute midfielder Camara scored Guinea’s second goal when he got past four Bissau defenders before rounding Lopes to run with the ball into the Djrutus goal.
The sides went into the half-time break with Guinea leading 2-0
Guinea Bissau had chances to score when Bata got past Guinea’s’ defence in the 66th minute but blasted his effort wide and ten minutes later Camara Nhancko also hammered his shot wide.
Guinea head to Wednesdays group match where they await Niger winner of the other Sunday’s meeting.
