Ghana beat Guinea 2-0 in their first Group A game of the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Thursday September 14.
Stephen Sarfo and Razak Patrick scored the all important goals in the second half of the higly entertaining match.
Black Stars threatened early, as debutant in Razak Patrick directed a free-kick into the arms of goalkeeper Kamara.
The deadlock was nearly broken by Winfred Cobbina as the game approached the half-hour mark, the 20-year-old forward beating his marker but shot over the the bar.
For Guinea,Seybouda Camara had a shot on goal midway through the stanza, while Ibrahima Camara headed wide shortly before the break.
Coming out for the second period, the hosts side pushed for an opener and their efforts were rewarded in the 48th minute when a cross from the right by Felix Addo was turned home by the chest of Stephen Sardo from four yards out.
Guinea got a good move in another end afforded Seydouba Camara the space to shoot but he directed his effort wide of goal.
When given another opportunity in the 55th minute he did not disappoint as Razak Patrick headed a right wing a cross back into the path of Kwame Kizito and he duly headed home from close range to make it 2-0.
Syli Nationale nearly pulled one back in 88th minute when Ibrahima Camara raced past defenders but his strike hit woodwork and cleared out of danger.
