TP Mazembe are the 2017 CAF Confederations Cup Champions for the second year running following a barren draw against Supersport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria, South Africa Saturday.

Mazembe only needed a draw to bag the trophy after a 1-2 first leg win last week in Lubumbashi, DR Congo.

They become the second club after CS Sfaxian of Tunisia to bag the second rate CAF club championship for the second time on the bounce.

The second stanza was more balanced but Mazembe retreated into defense as the clock wound up knowing a barren would be good enough.

Both teams finished 10-man less after Kabaso Chongo and Thuso Phala were sent off in the dying minutes of the game with two yellow cards each.

The trophy is Mihayo’s first in the continent. The youthful manger won the African Champions League with the Ravens in 2010 as a skipper.

He has already bay the domestic league and secured a spot in the next competition.

Mihayo thanked his charges for winning the trophy.

“I’m very happy with my players for following my instructions and making sure we retain the cup. This trophy is for all the Congolese people.”

He equal opposite Eric Tinkler conceded defeat but slammed poor refereeing.

“There should have been more than seven minutes added time. This is what kills African football,” a visibly agree Tinkler said.
