Kenya may have missed the chance to host the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) but still the nation will have representative at the tournament with the confirmation of assistant referees Aden Marwa and Gilbert Cheruiyot among the match officials.
The tournament is scheduled to commence on Friday 12 January in Morocco and in the confirmation list published by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the two assistant referees are among the 21 match officials called up.
Marwa had officiated in four African Cup of Nations tournaments – in 2012, 2013 2015,and 2017 as well as at Chan tournaments, U17 World Cup, CAF U23 Championship and the Fifa Club World Cup.
A soft-spoken chemistry teacher, Marwa will this time serve as an assistant video referee in the tournament.
For Cheruiyot he has been active on the continent in the recent past with a host of international assignments, including the African Nations Championships (CHAN) tournament in Rwanda in 2016.
