Former Mali national team captain Fredric Kanoute will be in the country this week to grace the round of 16 of the Koth Biro Football Tournament.

The annual tournament kicked off in second week of November at the famous Ziwani Grounds in Nairobi and will see former Sevilla FC forward watch highly anticipated knock-out match between Opitos FC and Umeme Bees.

The much awaited game is slated to be played on Friday 22nd December starting from 2pm as  both teams chase for the quarter-finals slot in quest to snatch the trophy from A 1000 Street who are the defending champions.

Koth Biro is a grassroots tournament that was started as an Nairobi’s Eastlands area only non-active club football tournament in the mid 1970’s by young schoolboys and it has rose to became the biggest off season tournament in Kenya held mostly during the short rains season in December.

Through the years, Koth Biro has nurtured some of the greatest stars in Kenyan football including former Harambee Stars captain Mike Okoth, Jamal Mohamed, former Bandari coach Rishadi Shedu among others.
