Former Senegal national team goalkeeper Massata Diallo passed away on Thursday night after fighting a long battle with a heart disease.
According to his daughter, Fatima Diallo, his father passed away at his home in Touba,a city in central Senegal.
“Our dad is no more,she passed this morning at our home in Touba,”she said.
The tragic news have drawn sympathy from his former team mates at US Goree including Yatma Diop.
“Sad news of the passing of Diallo.May his legendary spirit and soul RIP‚” Diop told Dakar Flash.
Former Senegal Union of Journalists (ANPS) President Mamadou Koume also added his condolences.
After his retirement in the late 1970’s,Diallo was a colourful figure in local football‚ known for his outbursts at referees‚ and earned the nickname ‘Whitehead’ because of his greyed hair.
