Senegal President Macky Sall has assured the national soccer team The Lions of Teranga of continuous support that will ensure national team performs exceptionally well in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In his televised end of the year address, President Sall said his government will do everything possible to help the team prepare in efficient manner for the global football showcase.

“The state will fully support our brave Lions in preparation for World Cup,” he said in his message.

Sall again congratulated the players for bringing glory to all Senegalese with the qualification urging the coach Aliou Cisse to remain steadfast in ensuring Senegal posts good results in the July’s event.

Senegal will fancy their chances in Group H amongst Poland, who they face in their first match, as well as Colombia and Japan.

The team had a notable participation in the 2002 World Cup, reaching the quarter-finals, in their first participation in the tournament.

Senegal’s biggest feat was defeating the then defending champions France in their group opener.
