An exciting career opportunity seems to be on the cards for Uganda Cranes duo of Isaac Muleme and Derrick Nsibambi. According to local media, the duo have attracted interest from an Egyptian club.
It will be the first time that their club KCCA are doing a direct transfer to the North African nation, creating a platform for the club to market it’s players in the lucrative Middle East/North African market.
Very few clubs in the East African region have gotten an opportunity to establish direct links with the Egyptian market.
KCCA has previously been accused of sabotaging player moves and killing their careers, with former Gor Mahia marksman Khalid Aucho being an example. The club was eyeing a big fee from an undisclosed South African club, leading to this. The PSL has not been a good league for African players to leap-frog to Europe. All players seem to terminate their careers there.
The club shattered the player’s move rendering him club-less for a season. It is said that greed by some officials in concert with an unscrupulous agent, demanding exorbitant and unrealistic fee’s, creating this crisis.
Aucho is said to be training with Micho’s Orlando Pirates, but even the coach himself is standing on shaky ground as fans have been calling for his dismissal.
On his part, KCCA Coach Mike Mutebi was quoted in local media as saying that they’re scouting for replacements to the duo. He seems aware that players who attract interest, become unsettled and disorient the team.
But the club is ran by bureaucrats who work full-time at the Kampala City Council and such logic may be evasive for part-timers in the vast and dynamic football industry.
It remains to be seen if KCCA FC will sabotage the brilliant career opportunity of the two strikers to Egypt, as they killed Khalid Aucho’s career.
