Spaniard Benito Floro has returned to take over the reigns as the new coach African Champions Wydad Casablanca following the dismissal of Hussein Amotta Wednesday.

Benito, 65, joins the record Morocco champions from Costa Rican top league side Liga Deportiva Alajuelense where he has been for the past one year.

He returns at helm of the troubled Casablanca giants five years after a disappointing exit from the CAF Confederations Cup in the hands of Mali’s Djoliba AC which marked the end of his first one-year stint at the club.

Benito’s is superbly loaded. Among clubs he has coached includes LaLiga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

He was also the coach of Canada national team for three years.

Amotta plus his entire support staff were sent parking Wednesday following a string of poor domestic run.

A 2-1 loss to Kawkab Marrakech proved the proverbial last stroke that the broke the camel’s back as the board moved to wield the axe.

It was the second loss on the trot and a sixth overall in fourteen outings. The team is currently 12th in the 16-team standings – 13 points off leaders Hassania Agadir.

Amotta successfully steered Wydad to a double last year – bagging a record 19th Botola title before delivering the coveted African Champions League crown.

However, he has failed to replicate the same form in the league this year leading to his sacking.
