Goals from Innocent Wafula and Enock Agwanda helps K’Ogalo cross the
50+mark as their Inch closer to the league title.
Gor Mahia remains unbeaten after 20 matches as they continue with their fine run form as their target a third successive Kenyan Premier League title after they beat Ushuru FC 2-0 at City Stadium on Wednesday.
Goals in either half courtesy of Innocent Wafula and Enock Agwanda
were enough to take K’Ogalo’s tally at the summit of the league to 52
points eleven ahead of second placed Ulinzi Stars.
Ushuru were lively in the opening pilling pressure on Gor mahia goal
minutes after the start of the match. Gor Mahia took on the
driving sit with their first attempt at goal as Michael Olunga
brought in a well taken cross from the left flank which found Wafula
unmarked and he easily tapped home.
Olunga was himself denied in the 12th minute when Richard Mwangi
blocked him from scoring and Gor Mahia had to be content with a
corner. One minute later, Ushuru got their first chance to equalize
with Barack Odhiambo forcing Boniface Oluoch in goal to make a save
after being put through by Rodgers Ochieng’ from a corner.
Gor Mahia started the second half on a high with Michael Olunga denied
by Samuel Odhiambo in the very first minute of the second half. Then
ten minutes after that Meddie Kagere was also denied as the league
champions upped their dominance.
The substitutions saw Earnest Wendo replace Collins Gattuso Okoth
while Ugandan international Walusimbi paved way for throw-in
specialist Enock Agwanda in the 62nd minute.
The super-sub did not take long to prove his coach right when he left
the entire Ushuru defence for dead only for the keeper to tag on his
leg for a penalty which he successfully converted in the 67th minute.
The goal ended Ushuru hope of a point as they had no reply as Gor
Mahia picked another vital points and maintained their match towards a
third successive league title.
This marks Gor Mahia’s 20th match unbeaten and Agwanda’s third
goal for the club since crossing over during the mid-season.
