Morocco’s Atlas Lions are keeping their feet on the ground ahead of Wednesday’s 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) Group A clash against Guinea after a dramatic win over Mauritania.

The hosts thumped Mauritania 4-0 on Saturday courtesy of Ayoub El Kaabi brace with Ismail El Haddad and Achraf Bencharki also getting their names on the score sheet.

A win over Guinea on Wednesday will guarantee the hosts passage to the last-eight of the competition, while a draw and Sudan failing to beat Mauritania on the same night could also get them an advantage to go past the group stage.

However, Morocco coach Jamal Sellami says he has put trust on his boys as they aim to do the business against a Guinea team.

“The opening match is always difficult. The key thing was to take three points, and I hope it will continue like that for the next game, “said Sellami in an interview with Kwese Espn.

On his side Guinea Coach Lappe Bangouara says he expects his side to bounce back from an opening round defeat to Sudan and shake the Moroccan team.

“I have made corrections on the errors that we made from our opening match against Sudan,” said Lappe.

“To beat Morocco or not, that is something else. But it’s about getting a good result. I do not have magic, its work and I cannot do anything without the players. I think that with the psychological discourse and the mind, we will have to do better than during the previous match”.

A host of Guinea players have extensive experience in CHAN with bulk of them having participated in the last edition of the championship that was held in Rwanda.

Midfield kingpin Sekou Amadou was Horoya AC’ top scorer in a highly successful campaign last season, and is one of Guinea squad members who have had game time in the previous event.
