Equatorial Guinea coach Rodolfo Bodipo has said ‘he will do everything possible’ to beat Rwanda in tonight’s Group C clash in the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).
Nzalang Nacional are currently without a point on the Group C log and are placed at the basement behind Rwanda, Nigeria and leaders Libya but that does not worry the coach a lot.
Bodipo says that their defeat against Libya was unfortunate and that they will fight to beat Rwanda in their second match in order to get chance to play in the quarter final.
“The Rwanda match is our last chance in this tournament, if we want to qualify for the second round. We will face a good team, which everyone expected to lose against Nigeria,” he said in a pre-match interview.
“Our players are learning the ropes at this tournament. Our aim is to get our players to play for clubs within Africa and even Europe to gain exposure. We want to honour our country and therefore, we will do our utmost to beat Rwanda.
On his side, Equatorial Guinea captain, Cosme Anyene Ebang, says the side need a win mentality to beat Rwanda if they are to remain in the tournament.
“We want to show a different image of Equatorial Guinean football. We made mistakes in Libya that we paid dearly.
“Now it’s time for us to pull ourselves together. It worked well tactically and even psychologically because many players were affected by the defeat of Libya.
Libya will be playing Nigeria Friday and it will be the toughest game of the group which Equatorial Guinea expects Nigeria to lose for them to have any chance of progressing to the next round.
