Cameroon coach, Rigobert Song, has set his sights on picking maximum points in their next 2018 Africa Nations Championship game against Angola.

The Indomitable Lions were beaten by 1-0 Congo in their opening game and must put up a better showing against the Southern Africans in their next fixture to stand a chance of passage to the next round.

A dejected Song during pre-match conference told reporters that his side put up a disappointing display against the Congolese but will work harder to improve on their performance when they face the Palancas Negras tonight.

“We have no choice but to win against Angola if we want to stay in the running. The defeat against Congo hurt us but we must accept it because it is the rule of football,” said Song.

The coach remains confident that his side will deliver positive results as they are well prepared as a loss for the team will mean early exit.

“We have prepared well for Angola. We saw Angola’s match against Burkina Faso to get to know our opponent, especially their strong and weak points. We now have a serious idea of this Angolan team. We will put in place a strategy to counter it,” the former Indomitable Lions captain added.

Looking at Angola, they failed to shine in their opening game where they were held into a goalless draw by Burkina Faso on Monday.

Coach Srdan Vasiljeric has expressed cautious optimism though he adds that his players are more fired up for tonight game.

“After the draw against Burkina Faso, we have to win against Cameroon. Our opponent is a respected side in African football, so we must prepare ourselves thoroughly,” said Vasiljevic.

“We expect to play this game as a unit so as not to leave too much space for the Indomitable Lions. We are focused on our preparations tactically, recovery and also the psychological aspect that should not be neglected. The draw of the first match has given us more desire to go forward.”he added.

Angola’s poor show in first match means they will have to work extra hard and under immense pressure to claim a win so as to increase their chance of advancing in what seems to be a tough group.

Both nations have met 13 times. Cameroon enjoy an advantage of seven draws and five wins.

Cameroon will play Burkina Faso in their final group D match on Wednesday with each team seeking a win to gain a slot in the final eight..
