Kenyan champions Gor Mahia beat their Ugandan equal KCCA 4-2 in an international friendly match played at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru Saturday.
Kenyan international George “Blackberry” Odhiambo netted a brace with new catch Humphrey Mieno and Boniface Omondi scoring a goal each to secure the win.
Julius Poloto and Solomon Okwalinga were on target for the visitors.
Mieno, formerly of Tusker FC opened his account with K’Ogalo in the 30th minute with a fine header from a free-kick to make it 1-0 for the coach Dylan Kerr side.
Omondi, who joined the 16 times KPL champions mid last year, doubled the lead in the 41st for a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break.
Odhiambo buried a rebound in the 54th minute to stretch the lead to 3-0 before Julius pulled one back in the 66th minute with a great shot past Gor’s keeper Boniface Oluoch.
Odhiambo grabbed his brace in the 79th to restore the big lead but Okwalinga pulled one back again to end the end the six-goal thriller 4-2.
The two teams will be representing the respective countries in the African Champions League this season and used the match to gauge themselves.
KCCA arrived in the country yesterday and will be playing a series of warm-ups over a period of one week. Their next game will be against Tusker FC at Ruaraka on Monday.
