Rwandan FA (FERWAFA) has agreed to “amicably” terminate contract of head coach of senior national team (Amavubi) Antoine Hey pending renewal talks.
The German, who managed the team in the ongoing CHAN Morocco 2018 where they were eliminated at the groups’ stage, still has two months left on his one-year-deal.
“The FERWAFA President Vincent Nzamwita and coach Hey met and agreed to amicably terminate the contract until the new FERWAFA Executive Committee comes into office to decide whether his contract will be renewed,” Hey tweeted.
Renewal talks were to take place this month according to provisions of his contract, but with the Executive Committee not yet constituted, the coach has chosen to quit with sources linking him with a move to Syria national team.
New Executive Committee members will be elected during FERWAFA polls due in March.
A statement from the organization is calling on the former Lesotho and Kenya coach “to respect termination clauses.”
“FERWAFA has received a proposal from coach Antoine Hey seeking to terminate his contract.
“FERWAFA and Ministry of Sports will meet in the upcoming days to review his request. However, coach Antoine Hey is urged to respect contract termination clauses,” the statement reads.
