Nkana on bye in CAF Confederation Preliminary Round
While CAF envoys representing Zambia in Africa’s elite cup competitions gets on the road this weekend, Nkana will be on bye and waiting to join the competition in the first round.
Nkana will be waiting for the winner between Onze Créateurs of Mali and CR Belouizdad of Algeria.
The Zambian former champions is among 10 other Clubs that will join the competition in the First round.
The 10 are Enyimba, Supersport United, USM Algier, Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid, DC Motema Pembe, Al-Ahly Shendi, Club African, Raja Casablanca and Zamaleki.
The first legal of the first round will be played between 6th to 7th March with the return legs coming between 16th to 18th March 2018.
The 16 winners of the first round will advance to the play-off round, where they will be joined by the 16 losers of the Champions League first round.
Before that the teams on bye will have to wait for winners of the Preliminary round to complete the fixtures of the first round.
Mean while Green Buffaloes who have a contest in the preliminary round in Egypt against Al-Masry will have to be good away to have any realistic chance of making it to the first round.
Other Zambian teams active this weekend will be the two in the Champions League.
Zanaco will be at home against Armed Forces of Gambia while Zesco United will start away in Zanzibar against ZKU.
