Sport Bissau e Benfica president Sergio Marques has apologised to the club’s fans following their 10-0 defeat to Difaa Hassani Jadidi in Saturday’s CAF Champions League preliminary round ,first leg encounter.

Five goals from Moroccan international Hamid Ahaddad Bakary, three from Tanzanian forward Simon Musuva  plus one each from Mauritanian midfielder Ndiaye and El Magri  condemned Wilson Batista coached side to their heaviest defeat in club’s history.

Marques also appealed to the Guinea-Bissau’s supporters, urging them to stick with the team during their ‘difficult moment’ and promised a better show in the return match.

“It is difficult for us to accept defeat but we have to face the reality and take responsibility. I apologize to our fans. I’m not going to make excuses,” said Marques as translated from Portuguese.

“I’m going to promise more work and dedication In Bissau we will show our true value. A fraternal hug to the whole entourage, viva SBB, long live Guinea Bissau.”

N’Diaye Bakary opened the scores in the 4th minute and before Benfica could settle down,Ahmaddad Hamid  added the second in 24th minute through a penalty and he scored a third a minute later, stunning Benfica  with three quick goals in a span of thirty minutes.

Ahmad  hit his third goal and fourth for Difaa Hassani Jadid in the 38th 43rd  minute before Siman Msuva scored a minute later as Moroccans took a deserved 6-0 lead at half time.

On resumption, Ahmad found the back of the net in the 47th minute and El Magri added the eighth in the 55th minute before  Musuva added two more in  73rd and 87minute.

The score line could have resembled a cricket score had Difaa Hassani Jadidi taken all their chances
