Malawi have lined up a friendly against Uganda next month as part of their preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu has confirmed that the match will be played in the Ugandan capital on 17 March having accepted the request from Uganda Football Federation.
“We have reached an agreement to play Uganda in a friendly as part of our preparations for our Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in September,” Nyamilandu told reporters in Blantyre.
Head coach Ronny Van Geneugden and the technical committee will soon convene to name the squad before the federation makes official communications to the players’ respective clubs.
Malawi will use the match as a dress rehearsal for their Afcon qualifier against Morocco that will be played on 6th September in Casablanca.
Malawi are in second position in Group B and they will be looking to dislodge Cameroon from top of the table if they secure unlikely win over the Lions of Atlas.
Uganda are also in contention for a Afcon ticket in Group L as they are in pole position with three points.
