The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has approached former Kenya national team coach Paul Put who has also been targeted by Guinea to take over the coaching role of their national team.
This comes just three weeks after reports emerged that the Belgian was among coaches shortlisted for the Guinea national team job that fell vacant following the sacking of Kanfory Bangoura last month.
Put resigned as Kenyan national team coach on Monday after falling out with the local federation’s authorities, though he said it was due to personal reasons.
Ivory Coast have reached out to the ex-Stars coach Put to take over from the recently departed Mark Wilmots, according to a Paris based online publication Afrique-Sur7.
Soka25east understands that the Syli Nationale coaching job is now down two men and either the Belgian or French-man Bernard Simondi will be introduced to the nation as new national team coach in coming weeks.
The Guinean Football Federation (Feguifoot) technical committee has recommended Simondi for the vacant job but the current Olympique de Khourigba mentor’s salary demands are the final hurdle delaying his appointment.
Simondi is rumored to be earning $ 240,000 a year as Khourigba coach and should Feguifoot fail to reach an agreement with him‚Put will get the job.
Put is best remembered in West Africa for guiding Burkina Faso to a runners-up place finish in the finals of the 2013 African Cup of Nations which was held in South Africa.
Guinea’s ten-man committee selected to name the new coach for the Syli Nationale must move swiftly if Put is among the coaches they are interested in signing.
