Nkana players wrap up as the Zambian Giant prepare for CAF Confederation Cup First round tie with Belouizdad … and welcome Iddris and Festus to the team
Iddris and Festus both have shown desire of pushing this team forward with their immediate impact in the team during the pre season training with the Nkana first team on Monday following their joining the team in the pre season.
Iddris is joining the team for the first time while Festus was part of the team in 2013 league winning team before his proffesiobal exploits as well as ending at Red Arrows, his parent club.
Both have been influential in the preparations and we’re both on the score sheet on their last key preparatory match away in Kenya against Nakumatt that they beat 4-0. Festus further scored in their earlier game with Gor Mahia.
They will definitely be in Bestone Chambishi ‘s plan and available for selection as they take on CR Belouizdad of Algeria.
Chambeshi will be feeling the pressure though as his Nkana squad entered the final phase of their preparations for the first of their two-legged first round tie in Algeria.
It’s their first meeting between these sides , an affair which Nkana will fight for to qualify to the pre group stage play offs.
Chambeshi has had a very good pre season in Zimbabwe and Kenya and will be desperate to get his tactics right. That also depends on how he marshals his striking force that looks congested with Festus Mbewe, Ronald Kampamba, Iddris Mbombo and Walter Bwalya .
In Kenya
It was a positive training in Kenya, as the Zambian giant took to the pitch to begin their final preparations ahead of what could be a season-defining clash.
Chambeshi will have to choose between former Nkana star Festus Mbewe and January arrival Iddriss Mbombo to lead the Nkana line as the Congolese eyes his CAF Confederation Cup debut for Nkana.
But a CAF tie against CR Belouizdad, under the lights, is precisely the type of occasion that would have drawn him to Nkana, and having trained and scored on Monday, will hope he can force his way onto Chambeshi bench at the very least.
That’s what will be in the mind of Bestone but he will have one encounter to sort out before setting up for Algeria .That’s the seasonal opener in the local league with the Charity Shield date against Zanaco on 3rd May.
