Rayon Sports have re-appointed coach Ivan Minnaert on ‘interim bases’ following the departure of Oliver Karekezi.
The Belgian coach will lead the Blues for six matches before the executive committee meets to decide on the next course of action.
“Yes, I can confirm that Minnaert has started the interim job before being appointed at the end of the first half of the season,” Rayon Sports secretary general Itangishaka told reporters.
Minnaert will be assisted by Jeannot Witakenge, who has been in charge for past few days after departure of Karekezi, and his major task is guiding the team to CAF Champions’ League group stages.
“As an interim coach, his task is to win the remaining league matches in the first half of the season and Peace Cup and the Champions League against South Africa side, Mamelodi Sundowns,” he added.
Minnaert rejoins the Azam Premier League outfit after he was sacked as head coach at South African side Black Leopards FC following a string of poor results
He has previously coached various side in Africa including AS Djoliba of Mali, Kenya Premier League side AFC Leopards, Mukura Victory of Rwanda, AS Kaloum in Guinea before moving to Black Leopards and his return to Rayon Sports.
