The Ivorian government has announced winning tenders for construction and renovations of venues earmarked for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Minister of Sports and Recreation Amichia Francois said a total of four companies have been awarded contracts to work on the facilities that will host the continental event.
“After our evaluations, four companies won the tenders for the construction of the stadium in San Pedro, Yamoussoukro, the renovation of the Bouaké Stadium and building of new stadium in Korhogo,”he said.
Francois added that all the work on the stadiums is scheduled to commence next month and it will take a period of two years to be completed.
“Work must begin in April. They will have a duration of 24 months. This is to say that in June or July 2020, these stadiums must be delivered, “he added.
The construction of the 20,000-seat stadium in Bouake and four Yamoussoukro training grounds has been was awarded to Sogea Satom which is a French based company.
However, the minister failed to disclose the names of other companies that won the tenders but various reports indicate that two of them are based in Europe and one of Chinese origin.
